Amy and Ben - Spring Longwood Garden Session

Springtime at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square PA literally can’t be beat and as you scroll on you’ll see why! Amy and Ben are just the sweetest couple and we had great weather for their engagement session. These two are getting married at one of my favorite local venues, Penn Oaks Golf Club, this fall, and after getting to hang out with them in person, I know these two are going to have such sweet wedding day!

Since I get asked often about what to wear for your engagement session and these two nailed it, I thought I’d share 4 of my best tips for the perfect spring outfit for engagement photos.

1. Embrace the Refreshing Colors of Spring

Spring is all about vibrant and fresh colors. Consider selecting outfits that incorporate soft pastels, cheerful yellows, delicate pinks, or even soothing blues. These hues will harmonize beautifully with the blossoming flowers and lush greenery of the season. Don't be afraid to add pops of color through accessories such as scarves or statement jewelry.

2. Dress Comfortably and Be Yourself

Engagement sessions are a time to showcase your love and connection. Select outfits that make you feel comfortable, confident, and reflect your personal style. This could mean a flowing maxi dress or a button down shirt and casual pants. Remember, being comfortable allows you to relax and enjoy the moment, resulting in more authentic and genuine photos.

3. Coordinate, Don't Match

It's essential to coordinate your outfits without looking too matchy-matchy. While matching outfits might look cute in some cases, it's best to choose complementary colors that go well together. Consider opting for a color palette that suits both of you, ensuring that the outfits have a similar level of formality. Coordinating outfits can result in a cohesive and visually appealing look during your session.

4. Say Yes to Light Fabrics

Spring can bring a mix of temperatures, so selecting outfits made of lightweight fabrics is key. Cotton, linen, chiffon, or blends with breathable materials are great choices, keeping you comfortable and preventing sweat or discomfort during your session. These fabrics also add movement and elegance, enhancing the overall visual impact of your photos.
