Philly bride

Monet and Daniel - A Philadelphia Skybox Wedding

I remember when Monet reached out me and asked if I was available to do some family photos of her and her sisters.  I had been following her for a while on facebook and from the moment she showed up at that shoot, something with us just clicked!  From there, she asked if I was available to photographer her wedding the following year and I immediately agreed!  Ever since then I had been looking forward to her SkyBox Events wedding in Fishtown!

Monet and Daniel are the kind of people you can tell are just madly in love.  And their ceremony was full of the kind of emotional vows that had me tearing up.  Their love for each other just shone through the day and it was so fun to see a bride be relaxed and present with their friends and family for the whole day.  And Monet was just a STUNNING bride.  Her bridal portraits are some of my all time favorites!  They spent their whole day laughing, drinking and dancing with the people who love them most and it was so much fun to photograph!

So while their wedding was just a few days ago, I am happy to be sharing their wedding with all of you!  Monet and Daniel - thank you for allowing me to be apart of your day, for getting the honor of capturing your start of the next chapter of your lives and for being such a great couple to work with!   Enjoy some of my favorites!!!

A huge thank you to the lovely team of people I got to work with!

Wedding Resources - Why We Love Veils

Why we love wedding veils
Wedding Resources - where we are answering your questions about wedding planning!  If you are like most couples, you've never done this before, so it's totally understandable to have questions!  And we are here to help!  Today we are talking about how much time should you allow for family photos and we hope that this helps you plan a stress free wedding day timeline!

One of my favorite parts of photographing weddings is the bridal details.  The sparkley rings, the perfect shoes, the bouquet, her dress and if she chooses to have one, her veil.  So much goes into choosing what she is wearing that day and having the honor to photograph it is always one of my favorite parts of the day.  Because I am often one of the first vendors a couple hires, I often get asked questions about where to go to buy a dress, what she should she look for and should she wear a veil.  As with everything else, there is never a right or wrong answer!  But I thought today I would talk about who choose to wear a traditional veil for a Wedding Wednesday post!

If you have ever watched even one episode of Say Yes to the Dress, than you have probably heard the phrase "jack her up."  While it sounds nothing like this, it means take the bride who likes the dress she has on and add on all the accessories so she can see what she might look like on her wedding day.  And one of the big things you will always hear brides say is "it wasn't real to they put the veil on."  It also is the one thing that tends to get the water works going!  But why? Well your wedding day is really the one day you can wear a veil so something about it has that "bridal feeling" attached to it.  So for many girls, they go from loving the dress, to loving the way they look as a bride once that veil goes on!

But there are so many kinds of veils!  Birdcage, short, fingertip, chapel, cathedral...just to name a few!  And then what about a blusher?  With so many options, how do you choose?  Just like choosing your dress, once you put on the right one, you'll know.  For me, I have always dreamed of a long Cathedrial length veil!  For someone else, they might love the look of a shoulder length veil with a blusher!  Try on a few and see what makes you feel the best!

As with your dress, always try to find what makes YOU shine the most.  There is no right or wrong way to do things, but at the end of the day,  you want to feel beautiful on your wedding day but you also want to feel like you!  So do what feels right to you, no matter what any one else tries to say!

I love shooting brides who choose to wear a veil because I love how they photograph!  From shooting them as details, to the bride by herself, to wrapping up my couple in them, they add such a wonderful element to photos!  Here are a few of my favorite veil photographs and I hope this post was helpful!!

Alyssa and Timmi - A Pastorius Park Engagement Session

Sometimes the weather just refuses to cooperate.  You make plans for an engagement session for one date and then it rains.  You reschedule and it rains again.  You reschedule again and this time clouds are rolling in but you decide to go for it anyway!  That was how it went for Alyssa and Timmi's engagement session but despite everything, these two and their sweet little one were amazing!

We spent our time together at a new spot for me, Pastorius Park, but it was perfect!  The outdoor theater, the beautiful lake, their love for each other, all came together for a great engagement session!  And photographing Alyssa?  Oh my it got me so excited to photographer her as a bride!!!  She's a gorgeous girl with such a sweet personality and Timmi clearly loves her so much!  He even made the little letter signs the day of their engagement shoot!  Not every guy would do that!

I can't wait for next fall when these two tie the knot but for now enjoy a few favorites from their session!

Missy and Mo - A Collingswood NJ Engagement Session

A little over a year ago I shot a sweet wedding at a lakeside venue in Jersey.  The couple had a photographer that bailed on them just days before the wedding and so their friend reached out to me shoot their wedding for them!  I was heartbroken that a photographer would do this to such a sweet couple, but it gave the opportunity to meet not one but THREE other amazing couples who's weddings I have done/am doing in the last year.

Which brings me to Missy and Mo.  Missy was a bridesmaid in Ashley and Darnell's wedding last fall and she also wanted to hire us to shoot her August wedding!  We were so excited!  Missy is a gorgeous girl and Mo?  He's clearly the total package.  Sweet, charming, a gentleman, handsome and funny.  So needless to say, I was so excited for their engagement session!  We met at Knight Park in Collingswood NJ and just a few minutes in, I was commenting about how excited I was to photograph Missy as a bride.  These two have the best kind of natural chemistry, so between that and the gorgeous sunset light, it was the perfect of sessions!  And this park?  A new favorite little place!  The lake, red bridge, beautiful trees; you can bet that I will be back there sometime!

Enjoy a few of my favorites from their engagement session and look forward to seeing their wedding pictures in a little over a month!!!

Sophia and Lisa - A Philadelphia City Hall Lesbian Elopement

When these two got married, I was knee deep in redoing my blog and website and I didn't want to post them to the old site.  So I have been waiting to share this wedding with all of you for quite some time!  Sophia is feisty, sweet and oh so gorgeous and Lisa is her hilarious, little bit bad ass and so kind other half.  I've known these two for a while and when they asked if i would be free to shoot their weekday City Hall wedding, the answer was an immediate yes!!!

These two are so in love.  The kind of love that you see on facebook and in real life and know that its not fake or temporary.  They embody the idea of being partners, supporting each other and loving each others families.  They also keep each other (and me!) laughing with their adorable bickering and commentary on everything!  It was a great day and I am so happy that these two have joined the #marriedlesbianclub and are loving life as Mrs and Mrs Crespo!

Lisa and Sophia....thank you for being such sweet friends and for allowing me to be the one to capture the start of this exciting chapter in your lives.  I adore the two of you to pieces and can't wait to see where life takes you next.  Thank you for being patient for this blog post!  And now, a few of my favorites!

Lee and Alex - A Valley Forge Park Queer Engagement Session

I can't believe that I will have the honor of photographing these two again in just FIVE days!  Lee and Alex are tying the knot on Saturday at a family farm and last weekend we met up to shoot their engagement photos!  It was so fun getting to this awesome couple as we explored around Valley Forge National Park!  From the moment we started taking pictures, it was obvious that their love is built on a lot of laughter.  And coming from 2 years of marriage, I can tell you that a love that is full of laughter makes for the best kind of life!  But seriously though, these two are so easy going, down to earth and obviously in love that you can't help but like being around them.

Lee and Alex, I can't wait for this weekend and being so honored to capture the start of this exciting next chapter in your lives.  I am crossing my fingers for the perfect weather and the most amazing day for the two of you!  For now, enjoy a few of my favs and look forward to seeing them again real soon!

Ashley and Chris - A Del Fresco's Wedding

Every so often I'll get an email asking if I would possibly be free for a wedding that is quickly approaching, usually within 2 weeks.  Some might be so overwhelmed by the idea of being hired that close to the wedding date, but as someone who put together their own wedding in 74 days, I get it!  Sometimes you are so in love or life hands you situations that make you realize that waiting to plan that big wedding just isn't right for you!  When you know, why wait to get married?  And this particular one happens to be one of my favorites of this type of wedding we've done!

Angela and Chris had the sweetest wedding day!  From the moment I showed up at the hotel to take pictures of her getting ready, I knew it was going to be a great day!  Angela has to sweetest laugh and gave me a ton of time to photograph them around Philadelphia City Hall before getting married at the gorgeous Del Fresco's!  We had a beautiful winter day, warm and sunny and these two couldn't have been more in love!  And their first look ya'll?  Oh such perfection!  Chris was overwhelmed with how gorgeous Angela looked and can you blame him?  She looked stunning!  We made our way to Del Fresco's where we did family photos and then it was the moment they had been waiting for!  Time to get married!  When the judge announced that they were husband and wife, Angela squealed and that happens to be one of my favorite photos of the day!  She was so incredibly happy!

The newlyweds then headed for a private dinner there at Del Fresco's and I left loving that this is my job!  Intimate weddings are so sweet and focused on the things that matter most - each other!  Here are some of my favorites (it was hard to only pick a few!) and congratulations to this beautiful and sweet couple!!

Ebony and Creig - A Tyler Park Engagement SHoot

Its not every day that the guy is the one to contact me for an engagement shoot!  But then again, Creig is a total sweetheart and he wanted to surprise his new fiance with an engagement shoot before she moved to Chicago for the next year.  Ebony's reaction was priceless and their session was perfection!  They both have cute laughs and such a love for each other that left me excited for the wedding next year!  Please enjoy a few of my favorites and come back to see their summer lovin' wedding in 2017!
